What is the Privacy Panda education program?

The Privacy Panda education program is a comprehensive digital privacy curriculum designed specifically for children ages 5-8. It centers around "Privacy Panda and the Digital Bamboo Forest" story and includes:

  • An engaging narrative featuring Privacy Panda
  • Interactive and printable activity books
  • Lesson plans for educators
  • Parent guides and discussion questions
  • Coloring and activity pages
  • Implementation resources

The program uses age-appropriate language and concepts to teach children essential digital privacy skills they need in today's connected world.

Why is privacy education important for young children?

Digital privacy education is essential for young children because:

  • Children are accessing digital spaces at increasingly younger ages
  • Young children are still developing the critical thinking skills needed to navigate online environments safely
  • Early education creates a foundation of healthy digital habits
  • Children need age-appropriate context for why certain information should be kept private
  • Good privacy practices are life skills that benefit children as they grow

By teaching privacy concepts early through engaging stories and activities, we help children develop the awareness and skills they need to protect themselves online throughout their lives.

Is the Privacy Panda program free to use?

Yes! All Privacy Panda basic resources—including the story, printable activities, and parent guides—are completely free for personal and educational use. We believe that privacy education should be accessible to everyone.

Premium resources, which include additional educator materials, professionally printed activity books, and classroom kits, are available for purchase to support the continued development of our privacy education materials.

How can I provide feedback or suggestions?

We welcome and value feedback from parents, educators, and privacy advocates! There are several ways to share your thoughts:

  • Use our Contact Form to send us a message
  • Email us directly at feedback@pandagarde.org
  • Participate in our user surveys (sent periodically to registered users)

Digital Footprints & Online Permanence

  • Use the footprints in snow analogy: "When we do things online, we leave footprints behind, just like walking in fresh snow. These digital footprints can stay there for a very long time."
  • Activity suggestion: "Let's think about what kind of footprints we want to leave behind. What would make us proud later?"

Chapter 1: Meeting Privacy Panda

Once upon a time, in a magical place called the Digital Bamboo Forest, lived a wise and friendly panda named Privacy Panda. Privacy Panda loved helping young animals learn how to stay safe while exploring the wonders of their digital world.

The Digital Bamboo Forest was unlike any other forest. The trees grew tall and green, but their leaves shimmered with tiny screens that showed pictures, messages, and videos from all around the world. Streams of data flowed like sparkling rivers between the bamboo stalks, carrying information from one part of the forest to another.

Privacy Panda had big, kind eyes and soft black and white fur. Around her neck, she wore a special golden badge that sparkled with the words "Privacy Hero." She earned this badge by learning all about keeping personal information safe and teaching others how to be smart and careful in the digital world.

Every morning, Privacy Panda would sit by the Great Information Tree, the tallest bamboo in the entire forest. Young animals from all over would come to visit her, bringing their questions about staying safe online.

"Privacy Panda," asked a little red squirrel one day, "what exactly is personal information, and why should I keep it private?"

Privacy Panda smiled warmly and patted the soft moss beside her. "Come sit with me, little friend, and I'll tell you all about the special treasures we carry with us..."
